The whole family is celebrating the end (almost) of my year as President of the Rotary Club of Campbell – San Jose West with a series of events this weekend. We’ve been juggling works schedules and even invited Gradee & Grandpa to help out with some babysitting.
All four of us went to the “Rotary Party” on Friday afternoon, enjoying hospitality suites hosted be various areas of our larger Rotary district. The girls really likde the “Wizard of Oz” theme room with its voice behind the curtain and the Magic 8-Balls on the tables. Felicia especially liked the chocolate coins at the end of the yellow brick road. There was also a hockey-themed room, and others with lots of interesting displays and food. We had a great time.

With my pair of tickets to Game 3 of the first round playoffs against Nashville, I decided to take my favorite hockey fan to the game with me: Jocelyn! It’s really been a fun year watching hockey together, enjoying the game sin person and on TV. She’s really beginning to understand strategy and interpret rules, and can now decipher statistics and box scores like a pro.
On Thursday night, we went to the game. We took earplugs, but Jocelyn didn’t need them. The volume and intensity of the playoffs really seemed to take her in, too. She cheered the team, talked about what she saw, and celebrated the victory. The game was a perfect playoff game, with back-and-forth scoring to start, a flurry of home team goals in the middle, and a frantic comeback by the visiting team that just fell short. And, Patrick Marleau (my favorite player) scored a hatrick!

Our schedule is all jumbled up this week, which gave me a chance to take Felicia to her Music Together class; it was my first visit, and she did a great job showing me around.
We met her friends, Elle, Kate, and Charlie, who for at least one day, were included in her usual status report: “… Mommy work … Sissy class, Chalie Shaisha‘s class …” She did a good job collecting bells and instruments, showing me how to use them, and then cleaning-up afterwards. She didn’t really sing much, but she definitely enjoyed the songs about trains. She did get momentarily distracted by the wurlitzer organ in one corner and the attractive stack of portable chairs in another, but mostly we danced and played.

Yes, it’s inevitable every Easter, I suppose … but Jocelyn found another Easter Egg this afternoon, on the Thursday after Easter. It was hiding under a stool next to the TV. Seems to be in good shape, if anyone wants to eat it!
Look at our Easter 2006 Pictures (requires log-in), or just peek at this one.
