Tahoe-Truckee Fact Finding Mission

P7290095_crWe spent the last few days celebrating a long weekend in North Lake Tahoe, taking this opportunity to acquaint ourselves with summertime on the lake. We’ve been dreaming of buying a vacation cabin in the Truckee area, but hadn’t acted on the dream thus far. We’re there all the time during winter, we needed to be sure there are things to do when the snow is melted.

The answer? Yes! The girls enjoyed swimming in Lake Tahoe and along the Truckee River, too. We took a hike along the California-Nevada border, overlooking Kings Beach and Incline Village. We swam at Commons Beach in Tahoe City and explored the Truckee Regional Park east of town.

On Friday, we took a tour with a realtor to investigate this cabin thing. We saw half-a-dozen houses, ranging in age and location. Along the way, we found Karen’s “dream house,” a 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin with a cozy loft and a nice open floor plan. Perhaps we’ll have news on that a little bit later. Perhaps not.
