The Christmas gifts exchanged between Martin Family siblings are nothing but legendary — and perhaps extraordinary … and Christmas 2008 was no exception.
We didn’t get around to exchanging gifts until after the official holiday, when we all gathered in Milwaukee for the week after Christmas. But the effort put into the gift exchange was awesome.
The Martin-Mackenzies (the Malifornia Martin’s) kicked things off with an impressive collection of traditional Chinese dancing silks and chopsticks, given together with a DVD of an authentic performance.
The Tennessee Martins pulled off a rare double-holiday gift this year, crafting a custom Monopoly game (Martinopoly?) featuring an entertaining twist on the well-known game.
Tim also put together a canvas mosaic, blending many of the 919 pictures we took while in the Tuscany region of Italy last summer into this image, originally taken of the sunset peering through the fortress town of Monterregio.
Following another long-standing Martin Family tradition, Tim actually gave us a “replica gift” of the canvas mosaic, in the form of a 400 piece puzzle, which was incredibly complex to assemble due to its fading color set and many repeated images. But yes, I did finish the puzzle.
