There are several ski resorts within a fifteen minute drive of the cabin, including Sugar Bowl, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch, and Boreal Ridge. Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Alpine Meadows are around 30 minutes away (weather permitting).

Ice Skating: Again, there are several choices, including the rink in the Village at Northsar (usually free, but no rental available), the rink atop Squaw Valley, and Truckee Donner Recreational District rink in Truckee.
